There's a new way to get to Belize. On October 26, 2026, BermudAir landed its first flight from Fort Lauderdale at Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City. The Belize Tourism Board joined the airline to mark the launch, as reported by Breaking Belize News.
The route runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. That gives South Florida travelers, and anyone connecting through Fort Lauderdale, one more option for reaching the reef, the rainforest and the island.
We've been renting golf carts in San Pedro since 2003. We're always glad to see Belize get easier to reach, because more flights mean more people can find out what Ambergris Caye is like at golf-cart speed.
From Belize City to San Pedro
BermudAir lands on the mainland, and San Pedro is on Ambergris Caye. There are two usual ways to finish the trip:
- A short domestic flight. Tropic Air and Maya Island Air both fly from Belize City to the San Pedro airstrip.
- A water taxi. Boats run from Belize City to San Pedro. You'll need a ride from the international airport to the water-taxi terminal.
Check current schedules with each operator before you book, especially if you land late in the day.
Your golf cart can meet you when you land
Ambergris Caye is best explored by golf cart. It's how locals and visitors get to beachfront restaurants, the north end of the island and Secret Beach.
J and H delivers carts to the San Pedro airstrip or the water-taxi terminal, and delivery within San Pedro is free. Send your airline or boat details and your arrival time with your rental request, and our team will confirm the meeting arrangements. If your plans change, let us know. Bring your booking confirmation and a valid driver's license. More about airport delivery.
